SUPERVISING POLICE COMMUNICATIONS TECHNICIAN

 

General Statement of Duties and Responsibilities

 

In a Police Department, under general supervision, with some latitude for the exercise of

independent judgment, action and initiative, supervises and directs operators, radio

dispatchers and personnel performing clerical, administrative and other duties related to

the provision of emergency service; performs difficult and responsible work in the

evaluation of priority designations; interacts with the public, other agencies and police

department personnel; performs training as required; performs related work.

 

Personnel may be required to work varied tours including nights, weekends and holidays,

depending upon the needs of the department.

 

Examples of Typical Tasks

 

Supervises Automatic Call Distributor operators or radio dispatchers; conducts

investigations; writes reports; and issues command disciplines.

 

Makes roll call changes and monitors operations during tour changes.

 

Initiates backlogs or administrative alerts when supervising radio operations.

 

Evaluates subordinates and monitors their performance.

 

Qualification Requirements

 

Two (2) years of satisfactory performance in the title of Police Communications Technician.
