Who We Are

     AFSCME Local 1549 represents approximately 18,000 Clerical-Administrative employees in almost every city agency in New York City.

    Local 1549 is a progressive union whose leadership believes that educating and informing the membership is always the top priority.  This website is another tool to accomplish that goal while encouraging feedback from the members.

    The leadership of Local 1549 and the Clerical Division of District Council 37 work together to provide what every Local 1549 member deserves - the best possible representation. Together we work to protect the rights of every member while negotiating for improved salaries, benefits and working conditions.

    Local 1549 constantly strives to improve the lives of all of its members.  Two initiatives which demonstrate that fact are the Local 1549 Scholarship Fund and the Local 1549 Advancement Fund.  More information on those initiatives is available on this site.
