Who We Are
Local 1549 AFSCME represents nearly 18,000 Clerical-Administrative employees in almost every city agency in New York City. Local 1549 is a progressive union whose leadership believes that educating and informing the membership is always a top priority. This website is another tool to educate and inform the membership while allowing for feedback from the members. The leadership of Local 1549 and the Clerical Division of District Council 37 work together to provide what every Local 1549 member deserves - the best possible representation. Together we work to protect the rights of every member while negotiating for improved salaries, benefits and working conditions. Local 1549 constantly seeks to improve the lives of all of its members. Two initiatives which demonstrate that are the Local 1549 Scholarship Fund and the Local 1549 Advancement Fund.
